The Umberumberka Recreation Reserve Upgrade Project is an initiative that will enhance the liveability of the Far West region. 

The project proposes a range of enhancements, including infrastructure upgrades and the introduction of recreational facilities, with a primary focus on preserving the dam's historical significance. 

The main objectives are to improve liveability, stimulate economic growth, and position Umberumberka Dam as a regional attraction. 

The proposed upgrades include the development of walking tracks, bike trails, and a café, as well as upgraded picnic, BBQ areas, the restoration of historical steam pumps and accommodation for visitors to the region.  

By transforming the dam into a multifaceted tourist attraction, the project aims to enhance the local economy, foster community well-being, and attract visitors from both near and far. The proposed upgrades, spanning road improvements, car park enhancements, and expanded facilities addresses existing limitations, making the dam more accessible and appealing to a wider audience. 

The local residents in Broken Hill and Silverton stand to benefit from the upgraded amenities, improved liveability, and potential economic opportunities generated by increased tourism.
